Memorial Day 2020 at NAS PAX River
On May 25, 2020, at Naval Air Station Patuxent River, Memorial Day was observed at the Blue Angels Memorial Site. Many fellow service members were present, friends and family, real life veterans and guests who answered our call this day. To all of them, who I shall try to name at the end of this record, our heartfelt thank you. Thank you for keeping the flame of remembrance alive.

Editorial
NEPTUNE is back!
After a long absence, the official magazine of SL United States Navy Third Fleet is back. Due to real life matters that were also behind my absence from SL later that year, the last number on the stands and online is #6, dated June 2018. We resume publication this month maintaining the regular number and as such this is NEPTUNE no.29. Back numbers from 7 to 28 will be issued as supplements whenever possible to fill the gap and maintain a record of 2018 and 2019 most significant events and SL general and naval aviation related matters. I hope you enjoy your reading, please leave us your comments! It's been a while, and it's good to be back on the SL news stands.
Blue skies and fair winds to you all.

CAPT. Asra Kron, Chief Editor

SL NFDS Blue Angels 2016 - 2020
It is everyone's right in Second Life to live the fantasy they wish, play the part they choose. Being a Blue Angel is no exception and we have no exclusive on it - no one does. We only try to do it as well and as similar to real life as possible, and this has been and will be my choice, and it is what sets the SL United States Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron (NFDS) Blue Angels from any other group flying similar colors.
Many, many groups exist in SL, it is what you do and how you do it that sets your group apart. In the SL United States Navy we strive to not only set it apart, but make it exceptional in every way. Existing as a SL United States Navy squadron in Third Fleet since February 14, 2016, the Blue Angels will continue their program as defined in our records.
A little history, for the record. Complete photo album link on the footnotes section.

In Memoriam: LT. Patty "Hi Dive" Poppy, 2005/11/25 - 2020/05/09

It is with great sorrow I place this remembrance page up for Poppy. She chose autopilotpatty poppy as her name, and was born in Second Life on November 25 of 2005. Her autopilot guided her to the great skies above on May 9 and now we are left to mourn but also to remember.
She was to play her songs at NAS PAX River for our Anniversary Ball just a couple of months away. When asked to do so she replied as she always did, happy to help and with a smile. I shall remember her that day and share her memory as we dance. I think she would have liked to know that's how we remember her: dancing. To all her friends at NAS Firespire and Auburn Bay, her family and all who loved her, my deepest sympathies.

New Hornets for the Fleet
On January 30, 2017, Captains Vickster Kühn and Asra Kron met with Ms. Shana Carpool to inspect the first shell of the Hornet Project. A year after her first frame was built, the first batch of Shana Aircraft Boeing F/A-18C Hornets was delivered to the Navy Flight Demonstration Team.

Gold and Blue Day at Miramar
January 13, 2018. Gold and Blue Day at Miramar. On this occasion we celebrate another year of operations in Tuarua Fiji, marking the date when N.A.S. Miramar was set where it stands today, Du Sud Isle, on the northernmost regions of Nautilus. To this day this fine naval air station remains the flagship of Third Fleet and one of the United States Navy finest references in Second Life.

NAS Miramar Second Anniversary
It was once more our pleasure to welcome fellow officers, family and friends to celebrate another year of Naval Air Station Miramar. Built January 1, 2016 on an isolated island as a showcase for approval by both the Navy and Tuarua Fiji, N.A.S.M. was inaugurated officially with the first orders on January 8 that year, two years ago today. It would be transferred to Du Sud Isle five days later, the date we officially celebrate the anniversary of operations in Tuarua Fiji.

Marines Land on Third Fleet
It gives me great pleasure to announce the inclusion of Major Dominique van Dongen, call sign "Albatross", in the ranks of this Third Fleet. Maj. van Dongen will be intern with the NFDT Blue Angels with #8 in mind, to become the squadron's logistics and human resources officer.

Blue Angels Homecoming Air Show
The annual Homecoming Air Show that initiates a new season will take place February 10 and 11 at NAS Miramar (*). Details will be added as they are available, but make sure you mark the dates!
(*) Traditionally held the last weekend of January, this year's Homecoming will take place the second weekend of February due to unforeseen circumstances - unfortunately we had to move the dates again. Please stay tuned as we will make it worth your while!
